I can thoroughly recommend Emperor Divers. They do day diving out of Marsa Alam and Liveaboards out of Hurghada. The reefs and wrecks itinerary goes to the Thistlegorm - think a couple of other routes do too. I've dived with them 4 or 5 times, both from shore and on liveaboards in Egypt and Maldives. The staff are excellent and the boats are great. Sharm's like Blackpool on speed,Hurghada's a little bit less hectic,Marsa Alam's quiet,very quiet.Pretty much all the hotels are hotel based,there's not really anywhere to go,so if you want a hotel based relaxing break Marsa Alam may be the place for you,if you want shops,bars,restaurants,and night clubs,forget it.
