It is a surprisingly reliable car. The reputation for Jaguar unreliability (mechanically) is something I have yet to see with friends and family who have had/have a number of the final generation of XJ, XE, and the first generation XF. The F-Type rear end just looks like it needs a refresh. Especially the taillights. It looks dated compared to most other LED taillights on luxury cars, even after the refresh. If they stretched out that semicircle a bit more it’d look way better.

Between 2000 and 2008 I drove every day to work in a 67 E-Type. The only thing that failed was a German fuel pump! I now have a 1987 Xj6, almost flawless. We did have to replace the ignition and the headliner. a 2014 F-TYpe S (Now called 380), no problems at all.
The F-Type is pretty solid. But there are three important issues to watch when buying one (and none is a deal breaker imo): Supercharger isolator rattle, fuel injector smoke screen and the diff. E-Diff is known to cook itself, all the diffs are known to fail and/or weep due to bad seals.
